MC Mary Kom receives Honourary Doctorate degree from Kaziranga University, Assam

World No.1 and six-time women World Boxing Champion MC Mary Kom was bestowed with the Honourary Doctorate Degree of Philosophy from the Assam Kaziranga University on Sunday.

Hailing from the North-Eastern state of Manipur, Mary has had legendary achievements and phenomenal contributions to sport of boxing over the years. In 2018, Mary scripted history as she became the first woman boxer to win six Championship titles in the 48-kg category. Along with that, she also has numerous other accolades to her name- making her mark across various competitions. She was also the first Indian boxer to win an Olympic medal and the first amateur athlete to win a Padma Bhushan.

The Assam Kaziranga University extended great pride to confer the legendary boxer with a Doctorate Degree of Philosophy and extended their support for her future endeavours.
