IOS Sports signs 5 World Boxing Championship Medallists Lovlina Borgohain, Simranjit Kaur, Gaurav Bidhuri, Jamuna Boro and Manju Rani
New Delhi, 1st November 2019: IOS Sports & Entertainment, country’s leading sports management group today announced the signing of three World Championship medalists Lovlina Borgohain, Simranjit Kaur and Gaurav Bidhuri to look after their endorsements and commercial interest.
Lovlina, Simranjit Gaurav, Jamuna and Manju joins the long list of elite athletes managed by the company including Boxing superstars MC Mary Kom and Vijender Singh, IAAF World U-20 Champion in 400 m and Asian Games 2018 Gold medallist Hima Das, Commonwealth Games 2018 gold medallists Manika Batra, Mirabai Chanu, Asian Games 2018 Gold medallist Jinson Johnson and captains of Indian Men and Women’s Hockey Team, Manpreet Singh and Rani Rampal respectively, World No.9 Men’s double badminton pair Chirag Shetty and Satwik Rankireddy.
The 22 year-old tall and lanky boxer Lovlina Borgohain who hails from Golaghat district of Assam has recently won her second consecutive bronze medal at the World Women Boxing Championship 2019 in the welterweight category (69 kg). Earlier in August this year, she also won a gold medal at the Umakhanov Memorial Boxing Tournament. Lovlina who got her career’s biggest break in Commonwealth Games 2018 won her first World Championship medal in the same year and is also the bronze medallist of Asian Championship 2017. The talented boxer has set her eyes on Tokyo 2020 Olympics and is training hard for the upcoming Qualifiers to be held in February next year.
Another boxer signed by IOS Sports is 24 year old boxer from Punjab Simranjit Kaur who has been performing well at the international circuit in the light welterweight category (64 kg). Alongwtih winning many medals at the national level competitions, Simranjit has won a bronze medal in World Boxing Championship 2018, silver medal in Asian Championships 2019 and a gold medal in the recent Presidents Cup in July earlier this year, she is currently preparing for Olympic qualification for Tokyo 2020.
Delhi born 26 year-old Gaurav Bidhuri is the male boxer signed by IOS Sports, he came into the limelight when he won a bronze medal at the 2017 World Boxing Championship in Hamburg, Germany. At the time he became only the 4th Indian male boxer to achieve this feat following the likes of Vijender Singh, Vikas Krishnan Yadav and Shiva Thapa. In addition, Gaurav has displayed fine performances this year by winning a silver and bronze medal at the Presidents Cup and Umakhanov Memorial Boxing Tournament respectively. Gaurav is currently preparing for the Olympic Qualifiers to be held next year.
IOS Sports has also signed Jamuna Boro, a young Assamese boxer who competes in the Bantamweight category. Jamuna’s recent performances have been remarkable as she clinched a bronze medal in the World Boxing Championships, Ulan Ude and a gold medal in the 23rd Presidents Cup, Indonesia prior to that.
Manju Rani, the fifth boxer signed by IOS Sports, created history recently by becoming the first Indian female boxer in 18 years to enter the finals of World Boxing Championship in her debut appearance. The 20 year old boxer from Haryana competes in the Lightflyweight category for India. Manju has earned praises from her coaches for being a hassle free, focussed and disciplined boxer.
