India finished off a glorious run at the Asian Para Games in Jakarta with a record-breaking medal tally of 72 medals in the bag. With 15 Gold, 24 Silver and 33 Bronze, this is the highest number of medals that India have managed to grab in the Para Games History.
India’s record in the previous two Para-Games:
2010: 1 Gold, 4 Silver, 9 Bronze
2014: 3 Gold, 14 Silver, 16 Bronze
-A total of 190 Athlete represented India which includes 142 male and 48 female across 13 sports disciplines.
-Para Athletics marked the maximum athlete representation in the Indian Contingent with a total of 67 male and 18 female.
-Para Athletics gave half the medals to India’s tally with 7 Gold, 13 Silver, 16 Bronze, a total of 36 Medals. The second highest came from Badminton and Chess who gave a 9 medals each.
-Male Athletes contributed 50 medals( 11 Gold, 15 Silver, 24 Bronze) whereas Female Athletes contributed to 22 Medals(4 Gold, 9 Silver, 9 Bronze).
-India finished 9th in the overall medal tally at the games. China finished at the top with 319 medals(172 Gold, 88 Silver, 59 Bronze) followed by South Korea (53 Gold, 45 Silver, 47 Bronze) and Iran( 51 Gold, 42 Silver, 43 Bronze)
